John Barnes told talkSPORT about the similarities between the Hungarian and Steven Gerrard.
Liverpool legend John Barnes has told talkSPORT that Dominik Szoboszlai reminds him of Steven Gerrard, speaking on the Hawksbee and Baker show.
Barnes said Szoboszlai had impressed him the most of Liverpool’s summer signings, after calling his performances “incredible”.
The Liverpool legend praised Jurgen Klopp’s system for bringing out Szoboszlai’s full potential. Barnes then went on to compare him to Gerrard:
“He reminds me of Steven Gerrard to a certain extent, because you don’t necessarily have box-to-box midfielders who can defend and attack, but that’s what he does.”
Szoboszlai has made 17 appearances for Liverpool so far this season in all competitions, scoring 2 goals, providing 2 assists and playing a total of 1,241 minutes.
Liverpool is currently ranked 2nd in the Premier League with 27 points, only 1 point behind the top team and defending champion Manchester City.
Klopp’s side have won 8, drawn 3 and lost just 1 match in 12 Premier League matches so far, scoring 27 goals and conceding just 10 goals.
