Wigan will face Manchester United in the third round of the FA Cup and Callum McManaman believes his team has hope.
McManaman, who won Man of the Match 11 years ago as Wigan beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final, revealed how Latics are planning to overcome Man United when the two sides meet tomorrow morning.
Ahead of the crucial FA Cup clash, the veteran winger told reporters: “To be honest, all the players are loud. The atmosphere around the place is really good. I don’t thought we could have had a better draw, to be honest. We had nothing to lose. We just needed to go out, express ourselves and be confident.”
After ending 2023 disastrously by losing 5/8 matches in December in all competitions, the Red Devils will be hoping to start the new year with a win and progress to the next round of the tournament. Shaun Maloney’s Wigan are also struggling in League One as they are currently 18th in the rankings, 4 points above the relegation zone.
After facing the third-placed team, Erik ten Hag will begin preparations for his first Premier League match of 2024, against an in-form Tottenham side on Sunday.
